The federal government has praised Dr. Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu State, for his administration’s strategic efforts and collaboration with President Bola Tinubu’s administration to accelerate infrastructure development in the southeast area.
The government also restated its commitment to completing the remaining parts of the Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourts expressways, as well as the dualisation of the Enugu-Abakaliki road, which the Governor Mbah Administration is working on, calling them as strategically important to Ndigbo and Nigeria.
Engr. Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, made the commendation and pledge on Sunday evening during an inspection visit of some critical Federal Government road projects with Dr. Peter Mbah in Enugu.
Umahi told reporters at the completion of the inspection, “The Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu-Port Harcourt, and Enugu to Abakaliki highways are three significant projects that are precious to the people of the South East. The president has paid appropriate attention to them, and the governor of Enugu State has praised the president’s efforts to develop these parts.
“We visited the flyover at Emene NNPC Depot, which the governor requested from Mr. President. That project is still underway, but I can claim that roughly 40% of it is completed.
“I am pleased that we are constructing that flyover because the governor, on his own initiative, decided to dualize the Enugu-Abakaliki route, and work is already underway. So it’s a struggle for the FG, which is why you have people working on the flyover component of that dualization day and night.”
